Outliers — Track and address anomalous events
AI, Machine Learning, Anomaly Detection, B2B
MY ROLE
UX/UI designer
I was responsible for ideation, visual design, interaction design and prototype.
RESULT
New feature showing data anomalies and events that led to them with explanations on how these anomalies were identified by machine learning algorithms.
MY IMPACT
Reduced the number of design reviews by 30% by making an interactive demo of the new feature with Sketch App and InVision.
Promoted transparency and shared vision
PROBLEM
BUSINESS GOAL
Launch a new service to increase company’s market share in IoT
CHALLENGE

LEARNINGS
WHAT WENT RIGHT
Well-organized handoff
I used Zeplin to manage design assets for the development process. Zeplin helped me save time and effort as I didn’t have to manually add specs, measurements and styles to each design.
WHAT WENT WRONG
Inconsistency in colors
During the design process I tweaked and changed line chart colors a lot. As a result every version was slightly different and it was confusing for developers which colors should be used.
SOLUTION
Create a Design System to have one source of truth
IMPROVEMENTS
WHAT CAN BE DONE BETTER
Not suitable for color blind people
After one of the iterations on chart colors I realized that in our chase for aesthetics, we completely missed the whole group of potential clients — color blind people.
SOLUTION
Add a switch to change colors into shades of gray with different line styles
